International Delights has called Durham's 9th Street home for over thirty years — family-owned from the start, and still cooking the same food that made people fall in love with it.
Founded on 9th Street
In 1992, International Delights opened its doors on Durham's 9th Street corridor, steps from Duke University. It was a family operation from day one — and it still is. Since then, we've had the honor of serving over a million guests, from Durham natives and students to travelers and newcomers discovering our city. Every meal shared at our table is a reminder of why we've proudly called Durham home for decades.
A menu rooted in the Mediterranean
At International Delights, our story is rooted in a love for global cuisine. We wanted to create a place where Mediterranean, Greek, Lebanese, Middle Eastern, Asian, and European influences could come together under one roof. From Falafel, shawarma, lamb subs, gyros, fresh salads and hearty plates to comforting favorites and bold spices, our menu reflects the many cultures that inspire us every day.
The steak sandwich people talk about
Regulars on r/bullcity have called our cheesesteak the best they've ever had — that kind of range is part of what makes this place.
Over a million guests served
The Duke Chronicle's Taste Buddies named us 9th Street's oldest restaurant. Some regulars have been coming since the early '90s — and their kids come now too.
Looking Ahead While Honoring Our Roots
While much has changed over the years, our commitment remains the same: serve fresh, quality food with care and treat every guest like family. From our home at 740 9th Street, we continue to welcome new faces while celebrating the generations of guests who have supported us along the way. We invite you to stop by, share a meal, and become part of the next chapter of our story.
